"America" did NOT "whoop" Britain.

Facts are that 1) less than half of British-American colonials supported the Revolution; 2) About 3/4ths of the battles, land and sea were won by the British against colonial forces; 3) Without the alliance with the French in 1778 (who brought in the Spanish to fight the British as well, in 1779), we very well would have lost the war.

What "America" did, between 1775 and 1783 (based on George Washington's intelligence strategy that we has no chance of actually BEATING the British by ourselves) was AVOIDING losing the war as long as possible, and frustrating the British into throwing their hands in the air and giving us our independence.

The American Revolution was very much Great Britain's Vietnam. A war they SHOULD have won, a war they did not LOSE, but a war that cost them a lot and came out of with less than they went in.

 

To the average Brit nothing matters except goverment support. That is why Britan is so fucked right now.

The most successful fighting was actually away from the 'battlefields' and in the wilds and restricted terrain. Toe to toe the colonial forces were no match until later in the war.

Washington DID toast to the king's health on more than one occasion.

 

No matter how we got here, we got here. and it is still a W in the win column.
And we repaid the French or they would be speakin German if it was not for the US.

 

We repaid the frenches TWICE. . . more if you count their hand off of Vietnam.

In WWII, at least, the war would still have been lost by Germany, though perhaps not as quickly, because of the German defeat in Russia. The Russians would have marched on Berlin whether or not the US helped liberate France and pushed through Poland.

And once Berlin fell and the Reichsführer was dead, France would have regained its freedom.

Sorry. All you did was hasten the inevitable. Germany was over-extended and its troops and munitions severely depleted after the disastrous campaign in Russia. The Eastern/desert front was also proving extremely uncooperative, and was also sapping resources.

 

Thats right the Polish,French,Italians and the rest of Europe was in complete control of the war from the Germans. They did not need the US to save their asses. Just like they don't need us to save them from the Islamic movement that is over taking Europe an your socialist economies that are imploding in your faces. So when are you going back?

July 4, 1776, was the day the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress, that's the reason we celebrate this day. the Revolution was barely started, so we had yet to "whoop" the British.
and to think, when I heard the other day that 25% of people didn't know what happened on July 4, I actually thought they were wrong. based on what I see here, they were optimistic in the extreme.

Unsurprisingly, you attempt to refute conclusions I didn't ever make. Where did I say they were in complete control? Europe was in shambles, but that's not the point.

I talked about the Russians. You know, the Reds? Commies? The Cold War ring a bell? Stalin? Trotsky, Lenin, Marx, Gorbachev, Gagarin? Those names ring a bell? Yes? Good. They are all Russian.

The Russians won the war, thikdik. The Russians took Berlin. The Russians forced the Reichsführer to take his own life.

The American contribution, in terms of applied military force, was welcome - very welcome. But it did not win the war.
